Comments:Ref:Lincoln estae I grew up on this estate and my dad still lives on it, but when i was old enough to pay bills i ran for the hills. I do go back from time to time and the council always seem to be putting a lick of paint on things, but i think they need to erase and replace. There is alot of corupt and twisted people who live amongst this warren but the majority are good people. Mabey one day the good will have a decent place to live withought fear of crime or new comers taking their homes from under feet.

Comments:I can remember when corby was not a violent a place as it is today. This has something to do with the lack of policing in the area as we now have a part time police station, (OPEN IN THE DAY AND SHUT AT NIGHT WITH ONLY A GHOST SHIFT RUNNING THE STATION.) I have lived in many of the areas now under demolition, all have good and bad memories for me. Time will only tell if all these new developments will really make any difference to Corby peoples lives or are ineffect done in the interests of interloping Kettering shoppers, I have my doubts. Corby and its people have suffered for too long from the discriminations of our neighbouring towns, (Kettering)

Comments:Corby is an utter dump. You can't argue with the stats. I mean which other town has youths attacking and targeting its ambulance/fire service every week? You can knock down the grafiti ridden buildings with new ones, but guess what? this leaves a blank canvas to paint yet more Grafiti because kids have nothing else to do there! You can also build all the new shops and cinema's but it will not change the attitude of a population let down so badly by the thatcher years. The kids have no real guidance in many of the run down areas and thus have grown up to be little b******s with no respect for anything! As for the idea of attracting cockneys to the area and dumping them in modern higher value estates like oakley vale (while they commute to and from london for their jobs), this will not help the locals who are living in virtual poverty still. If anything it will make things more expensive and alienate them even more. Its just a way for the housing developers to make more money.

Comments:cont..... Plus the expansion of Kettering and new developments planned for there will draw in the visitors as its a much nicer and established town. Who in their right mind would want to go shopping in corby and be spat on and mugged by the irn bru squad?

Comments:Having been born and bred in Corby (I left in 1966) this is the 1st time I have visited this site as I have been trying to find a book on the Old Corby from the 50's 60's The Corby I see and read on this site isn't very nice and I don't recognise it at all. Corby always had a bad reputation but I think that stemmed from the fact that it was a steel town, the men worked hard and played hard but it never did us any harm I have good and bad memories of the town.

Comments:Corby is fast improving - the council are taking the 'erase and replace' tactic in some parts of town, there's a new town centre, 50m pool and civic hub on-site now, new office developments at Oakley Hay will attract a greater skills base to the town and by xmas 2008 we should have a train station. If you've moved away and are that adamant that Corby will always be a dump, come back in a couple of years and see how wrong you are.

Comments:Its not about Corby as it is,as town...like any other, with good and bad points.More whats counts is a people who lives here. Not very nice.As a thought, the other night, going to work, come across some yobs who were throwing stones onto passing cars on the road.I was lucky, other one driver has not. And then what, stop the car,get out and cause some more trouble for yourself? Its not,i think to blame kids, its to blame their parents. The apple does not fall far from the tree. And policing and goverment. All together. Feeling lucky, soon i will be moving out. It is not place for me to live here. Salute.

Comments:My family & i were Born & Bred in Corby with Family & Friends still residing there today. Corby was always a beautiful & very Friendly place,i can still remember during the early 1970s living with my Uncle on the Kingswood Estate which at that time was a newish estate where i spent many long & happy hours around the fountains & shops at Canada Square or I often crossed over to the Lincoln Estate to meet with Friends. I can remember both Estates as being very close knit communities & everybody seemed to know everybody else. In my opinion the blame for Corby's demise just as it is in the North East does not lie at the hands of the Goverment, most of the blame lies in the hands of those Parents who could not care-less what their kids are upto or turn a blind eye to the carnage & mayhem that those same un-controllable kids are causing within their own neighborhoods. I send my Love and best wishes to all the People of Corby. God-Bless You All XXXXX.

Comments:i live in corby and being 17 i experience the violence and chav behaviour everyday. i hate living here and cant wait to get out, which is a shame cos it could be lovely. but with most of the kids having nothing to do, their gonna cause trouble, purely because their bored. They are building new developments, and we had a member of the council come to our school and explain it all, but as one of my school friends pointed out, its going to be a waste of money building a shopping center and train station, as they are not building anything for the kids, so they will get vandalised once more. Its pointless tryin to build to make the town better, because its a ____ hole, and as long as the people who live here have the attitude they do, it always will be.
